City Council meeting of September 18, 2006 <br />Page 4 <br />REQUEST FROM PARKS COMMISSION FOR A CITY PARKS SITE VISITS <br />At its September 13, 2006 meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission discussed a fall parks tour. <br />This annual event is an opportunity to see first-hand, the work that has been completed on new and <br />existing parks. The Commission has extended an invitation to the Hugo City Council to the site visits, <br />which will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, the next regularly scheduled Commission <br />meeting. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to schedule a special Council meeting for October 11, 2006, at <br />4:00 pm, in order to allow Council attendance at the parks tour site visits. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />REPORT ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2006 JD2 BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE MEETING AND <br />AWARD OF BID FOR MINOR MAINTENANCE PROJECT <br />Council members Mike Granger and Frank Puleo, and City Administrator Mike Ericson attended the <br />JD2 Blue Ribbon Task Force meeting on September 8, 2006. Councilmen Granger and Puleo provided <br />Council with a report of the results of the meeting. Water Resource Engineer Pete Willenbring from <br />WSB Engineers presented Council with the results of the bid opening for the routine maintenance of <br />JD2, which was held on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 10:00 am. The City received six bids with the <br />low bidder being Huldegaard Construction at $63,926. Pete recommended that awarding of the bid be <br />delayed until the next Council meeting due to the need to obtain a SWPPP storm water permit from the <br />MPGA. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to accept bids submitted for the JD2 minor maintenance project <br />and award the bid at the Council meeting of October 2, 2006. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />UPDATE ON RURAL PRESERVATION ORDINANCE AMENDMENT <br />CD Director Bryan Bear updated Council on the rural and open space preservation ordinance <br />amendment discussion held at the Planning Commission meeting on September 14, 2006. The PC has <br />scheduled a special meeting for Thursday, September 21, 2006 to continue its discussion. <br />DISCUSSION ON GRAVEL SHOULDER ROAD RECLAMATION PROJECT <br />PW Director Chris Petree provided Council with a report on the gravel shoulder road reclamation project <br />due to concerns voiced by residents. City Administrator Mike Ericson read excerpts from the memo for <br />Council and the public, explaining how the project was staged. Council determined that the project was <br />necessary, but stated the need to keep residents informed as to the details of such projects via the City's <br />website or local newspapers. <br />
