MINUTES FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL I-35 W/E COALITION MEETING OF <br />SEPTEMBER 29, 2006 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />PRESENT: Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson <br />ABSENT: Mike Granger <br />OTHERS PRESENT: See Attached <br />PRESENTATION OF CITY OF COLUMBUS AND REVIEW OF HISTORY FROM <br />COLUMBUS TOWNSHIP <br />Mayor Fran Miron announced that he had attended a special ceremony last week where Mel Mettler <br />was sworn in as the new mayor of the new City of Columbus. He read a prayer from a local pastor, <br />which was read aloud to the attendees at the ceremony. The content of the text was the importance <br />of public service and the leadership roles elected officials take. Mayor Mettler thanked Mayor <br />Miron for attending and for the support of the City of Hugo. New City Administrator Elizabeth <br />Mursko expressed her appreciation to the City of Hugo and the entire Coalition for the coffee and <br />cake, which were served to commemorate the once-in-a-township/city's history. She shared with <br />Coalition members, a new marketing brochure for the City of Columbus highlighting the <br />construction of the new harness racing track and the new Ziegler Caterpillar plant. <br />UPDATE ON CSAH 8/14 PROJECT <br />Assistant Washington County Engineer Wayne Sandberg provided Coalition members with an <br />update on the CSAH 8/14 project. It is on schedule and on budget, and the bituminous wear course <br />is schedule to be completed yet this fall. <br />UPDATE OF CSAH 14 PROJECT <br />Centerville Administrator Dallas Larson shared with Coalition members an update on the CSAH 14 <br />project. Construction will start this winter, with final completion in 2008. Lino Lakes City Engineer <br />Jim Studenski stated the project is very complex because of the poor soils and wetlands. <br />MOA BETWEEN CITY OF HUGO AND RCWD FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF <br />JD2/HARDWOOD CREEK <br />Mayor Miron explained to the Coalition members that the City is proceeding with the routine <br />maintenance of JD2, and in doing so, obtaining the necessary permits from the MPCA. The work is <br />in follow up to work completed 1 %2 years ago, with special attention paid to the water quality of <br />Lake Peltier and Hardwood Creek, which have been declared impaired water bodies by the State. <br />He wanted the Coalition members to know the City of Hugo is committed to improving the water <br />quality of the lake and the creek. <br />
