City Council meeting of February 7, 2005 <br />Page 7 <br />staff sought direction from Council as to its desire to have language changed to specify a super majority <br />of the County Board. After discussion, Council supported a change in State Statute to a super majority. <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, directing staff to draft a resolution for Council approval stating <br />City Council desire that a motion for removal of the local assessor require a super majority of the County <br />Board. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />DISCUSS SCHEDULING EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TOWN MEETING AT THE RLP <br />COMMUNITY ROOM <br />City staff received a letter from a resident inquiring as to the City's emergency management plan. <br />Council discussed this issue at its neighborhood meeting at the Hugo Fire Hall in October 2004, and <br />suggested that staff schedule a town hall style meeting at the City's new Rice Lake Center, at which Fire <br />Chief Jim Compton and staff would provide an overview of the City's emergency management plan. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, directing staff to meet with the Fire Chief to review an agenda <br />and select a date for this event. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SELECT DATE TO CONDUCT PLANNING COMMISSIONER INTERVIEWS <br />On January 3, 2005, Council directed staff to advertise for the vacancy on the Planning Commission, <br />which was created due to the term expiration of Vice Chair Sandy Malaski. The deadline for submittal <br />of applications was Monday, January 31, 2005, with receipt of four applications. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to schedule a Council meeting for February 28, 2005, at 7:30 pm, <br />to conduct Planning Commissioner interviews. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SIDEWALK SNOW REMOVAL POLICY <br />Council member Petryk had received a call from a resident regarding the City's snow removal policy. <br />PW Director Chris Petree stated that the City did not have a policy due to budget limitations and a small <br />staff. City Attorney advised that a "no policy" recommendation be submitted to Council for <br />consideration at a Council meeting. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to develop a policy memorandum for Council <br />review. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
