MINUTES FOR THE CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP OF SEPTEMBER & 2003 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron <br />City Administrator Michael Ericson <br />Fire Chief Jim Compton <br />I' Asst Chief Greg Burmeister <br />2nd Asst Chief Jadon 011ila <br />Other member of HFD <br />SITE INSPECTION OF FIRE TRUCKS <br />The Hugo City Council met in the apparatus room of the Fire Hall and listened to a presentation by <br />2"d Assistant Chief Jadon 011ila and Fire Chief Jim Compton, as they described the four fie trucks, <br />which are scheduled for replacement in the City's Capital Improvements Program. There were a <br />number of questions asked by Council. The four trucks are: 1) 1986 Heavy Rescue; 2)1974 <br />International Pumper, 3) 1974 International Tanker; and 4) 1992 Pumper. <br />REVIEW STATUS OF TRUCK REPLACEMENT PROGRAM <br />Council then moved to the training room at 7:45 pm, and Fire Chief Compton and 2nd Assistant <br />Chief 011ila provided an overhead presentation about issues related to the Truck Replacement <br />Program. Chief Compton also talked about future medical services, which may be provided by <br />HFD paramedics. <br />RECOMMENDATION ON 2004-2008 CIP <br />Council reviewed the 2004-2008 CIP and agreed the biggest issue is how to fund the replacement <br />trucks. Council agreed to recommend at its next regular meeting the inclusion of the 1986 Heavy <br />Rescue for funding as part of the 2003 Equipment Certificates. Council agreed to recommend also <br />the preparation of specifications for the new truck. Council directed the City Administrator to <br />work with Finance Director Ron Otkin to provide options for funding the replacement of two 1974 <br />Internationals, including use of a special referendum by the voters. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to adjourn at 9:00 pm. <br />All aye.
