MINUTES .FOR THE JOINT MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCILS OF HUGO, CENTERVILLE. <br />AND LINO LAKES ON JANUARY 30, 2002 <br />Mayor Fran Miron called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />PRESENT: Granger, Haas, Puleo, Miron <br />ABSENT: Petryk <br />City Administrator, Michael Ericson <br />WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS <br />Lino Lakes Mayor John Bergeson welcomed everyone. Mayor, Council Members, and staff from the three <br />cities introduced themselves. He noted with Mayor Miron that there was a tri -city meeting several years <br />ago. <br />CASH 14/I -35E INTERCHANGE <br />Rick Arnebeck and Linda Bly from MNDOT spoke to city representatives about the process for funding <br />the interchange work. The project would have to get a priority ranking and be placed in the funding cycle. <br />The five MNDOT criteria for ranking are: 1) preservation of existing system; 2) management; 3) <br />improvements; 4) expansion; and 5) interregional corridor and bottleneck problems. There are no grants <br />right now to do a planning study. Many questions were asked by City Officials. <br />PUBLIC WORKS MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT <br />The mayor from Centerville, Tim Swedberg, announced that the city had recently approved the Tri -City <br />Public Works Mutual Aid Agreement. Centerville is now joining Hugo and Lino Lakes, who have <br />previously approved it in 2000. <br />YMCA <br />Lino Lakes Council Member Jeff O'Donnell spoke briefly about the capital fund drive for the new YMCA <br />in Lino Lakes. The drive has generated $5M; $6.5M is the goal. Anyone interested should contact Jeff. <br />TRAIL CONNECTION BETWEEN HUGO & LINO LAKES <br />Lino Lake Public Services Director Rick DeGardner announced that there is a suggested trail connection <br />between the two cities near the Clearwater Creek Subdivision, east of Otter Lake Road. Hugo will mail an <br />old LCMA grant application to other cities to review at later date. <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br />A future meeting is to be scheduled in May to discuss joint water system and the future of border road <br />Elmcrest Avenue between Hugo and Lino Lakes. The next tri -city meeting will be held at the new Hugo <br />City Hall. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Hass made motion, Granger seconded, to adjourn at 9:15 pm. All Ayes.
