MINUTES FOR THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 7, 2000
Mayor Walter Stoltzman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
PRESENT: Barnes, Haas, Leroux, Petryk Stoltzman
Mark Sathe and Bob Benson of Sathe and Associates
The purpose of this special meeting was to short-list the finalists for City Administrator.
Mr. Sathe explained the reason for meeting with a candidate this evening, stating that the
candidate had another interview in Missouri on Saturday. He also outlined the interview
point system — (1-10), and the round-robin approach. The morning interviews were on an
individual basis, and afternoon a group interview. A "perfect score" interview would be
60 points: ten points per question and ten points for morning interview.
Mr. Sathe then reviewed Title 7, which states that there will be no discrimination on age,
race, sex, ethnic background, etc. If there are doubts about a certain question, don't ask.
Mr. Oliver Merriam arrived at 7:10 pm for his meeting with the City Council. He
reviewed his experience in the area of public administration. Mayor Stoltzman
distributed draft copies of Ordinance 2000- and Ordinance 2000-336 for Council
review.
The Council then reviewed the applications to short-list the candidates. The Council
narrowed the field to five candidates to be interviewed on Saturday, March 11, 2000.
After Council discussion of general areas of questions, actual questions were decided
upon.
Barnes made motion, Leroux, seconded, to adjourn at 9:30 pm.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Becky Petryk
Recording Secretary
