City Council meeting of December 1, 1997
Page 5
CORRESPONDENCE
The City received the following correspondence: 1) letter from a resident on 165th
concerned with the floor elevation for their residence, 2) letter from Dave Schumann
apologizing for illegally distributing a Fire Hall Referendum flyer, and 3) letter from a
resident regarding debris left on his property from Post Office construction.
FIRE HALL REFERENDUM
The Mayor discussed the recently -defeated Fire Hall Referendum held on November 18th.
He suggested that the City pursue the possibility of entering into a Lease Purchase
Agreement for a Fire Hall, and reviewed options available for reducing the 1998 budget in
order to help defray future Fire Hall costs. Several residents present offered their opinion
as to why the referendum was defeated. As Mr. Schumann had offered an apology for
illegally distributing a flyer, Mayor Miron afforded an opportunity for authors of the
"yellow flyer" to come forward with the same apology, or possible legal action would be
taken.
COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER SHOOTING ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS
Miron made motion, Barnes seconded, to approve a Committee to consider shooting
ordinance amendments to be Chaired by Councilman Leroux, comprised of the following:
Debra Barnes, Will Riopel, Jeff Hughes, Becky Petryk, and Karen Duraine.
All aye.
