Planning Commission Minutes — December 9, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />Patrick Shearen, 14187 Forest Blvd. N, asked if the changes wouldn't take effect until the City <br />Council makes a final approval. He believes that a row of homes along Highway 61 would be <br />better zoned commercial and that he would be in touch with staff to discuss. <br />Schumann questioned a section pertaining to farm hand living quarters that were not allowed to <br />be rented. He asked why an employee couldn't pay the farmer rent for the living quarters. <br />Rachel suggested wording changes to allow for the farm hand to rent <br />Schumann also stated that 6 months to vacate may be a short period of time. <br />Rosenquist stated that they could always ask the council to appeal or ask for an extension. He <br />thought they should leave the language the same. <br />McRoberts suggested a few grammar corrections. <br />Rosenquist motioned, McRoberts Seconded to approve the zoning changes. <br />All ayes, motion carried. <br />Gwynn motioned, Kleissler seconded, to approve the Future Urban Service zoning change from <br />1 unit per 10 acres to I unit per 20 acres. <br />McRoberts asked about places of worship and schools being allowed in all zoning districts. <br />Rachel Answered that the City must allow them to be in every zoning district. <br />McRoberts asked if they could revise places of worship at a future meeting. <br />Schumann asked about drive through and drive in businesses. <br />Rachel answered that the City allows for both drive through and drive in businesses. She gave <br />the definitions and suggested adding such language. <br />McRoberts motioned, Rosenquist seconded, to approve the performance standards with the <br />suggested changes. <br />All Ayes, Motion carried. <br />2011 Goal Setting <br />The Planning Commission made the following goals for 2011. The list will be forwarded to the <br />City Council at the annual goal setting session. <br />• Finish the northern gateway <br />• Implementation of the downtown plan <br />• Commercial and industrial design guidelines <br />
