MINUTES
HUGO PLANNING COMMISSION
MARCH 24, 2005
Call to Order
Chairman Schumann called the meeting to order at 8:23 p.m.
PRESENT: Hoffbeck, McRoberts, Rosenquist, Schumann, Weidt
ABSENT: Bailly, Kleissler
ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director
Michele Lindau, Community Development Assistant
Minutes of March 10, 2005
Rosenquist made motion, Hoffbeck seconded, to approve the minutes of March 10, 2005 as
submitted.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Review of Planning Commission Goals
The Commission reviewed the goals for 2005 established by the Planning Commission earlier in
the year, mainly focusing on the future land use north of 165th Street North.
It was noted that the majority of the properties were in the Urban Reserve District and could be
subdivided into 10 acre parcels for residential development. There was discussion about whether
the minimum parcel size should be increased to 40 acres in the Urban Reserve Zoning District.
The Commission, Council, and Economic Development Authority have all discussed whether the
City should have another industrial park. The Commission felt that it should be assumed that
land on Highway 61 and 165th Street and 170th Street would most likely be commercial,
industrial or light industrial and the large tracts of land needed to be preserved.
The City would be updating the Comprehensive Plan in 2008 and the Commission concluded
that the City should wait for an indication as to what the Metropolitan Council's direction was
going to be. They agreed that they needed to solicit community input in advance.
