September 11 2013 <br />Re: Preliminary Metropolitan Council f=orecasts for Thrive MSP 2040 <br />Dear Mr. Bear: <br />In preparation for next spring's adoption of Thrive MSP 2040 and the beginning of decennial Comprehensive <br />Plan updates, the Metropolitan Council has developed Preliminary local forecasts of population, <br />households and employment to 2040. Preliminary forecasts for all communities ir the region are enclosed <br />with this letter and are also available on the Council's website at www.mettrocouncil.org. <br />Before the Council adopts these forecasts alongside the adoption of Thrive MSP 2040, the Council wants to <br />provide the opportunity for local comment. We are particularly interested in learning about factors that <br />influence where growth may occur in your community — especially future planned lana use. <br />The Council will hold workshops across the region for local government elected officials and staff to learn <br />more about and provide feedback on policies proposed for Thrive MSP 2040 and local forecasts. Space is <br />limited; please RSVP to Council Public Information at public.info metc.state.mn.us or 651-602-1140. Space <br />will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The Council will accept comment on the <br />preliminary forecasts through December 1, 2013. <br />The Council will revise and finalize these forecasts in early 2014 for adoption with Thrive MSP 2040.
