Mr. Ctrarles Hobirn;un
Pape 2
October 26, 1982
The following is a summary of all data collected:
As you can see from the data above; in most cases the noise
impact from U.S. 61 is greater than the noise recorded from the
test shots. Sites #5 and #6 were not as heavily impacted by U.S.
61 where the data indicates the shooting; was noticeable but not
obtrusive.
I would like to point our that at Site 115 a barking dog was
recorded at 55 dB(A) and at Site #6 a distant dirt bike was
recorded at 59 dB(A). I would consider decibel levels under
40-45 as quiet.
l:n lin effort to get a speedy response and assessment to you 1
have kc.•pt my report brief and non-technical however, I arrr willilrje
to answer verbally any questior►s or comments that may come up. 1
think the data can be interpreted by the Town of Forest Lake with
11ttI E:t f'or't.
I1' you net,j further information ple'l,-'e feel free to contact rn<
Yours truly,
Dave Kelso
Program Development/Noise
Division of Air Quality
DK:jms
Attachment
dB(A) of
# of Shots
dB(A) of
dB(A)
Site #
Gun Shots
Recorded
U.S. 61 Traffic
Background
-vl
ls(/ I.
1
50-61
s*,
11
56-75
44-50
q'
2
50-6o
ss
8
54-61
45-52
'-
3
50-55
-s
10
44-58
37-42
y,'
4
48-55
61,5-
8
5o-60
40-50
5
41-48
Hyl
16
42-44
36-40
38
6
36-41
3g. 5"
21
barely audible
24-30
't-: r'
As you can see from the data above; in most cases the noise
impact from U.S. 61 is greater than the noise recorded from the
test shots.
