Hugo Planning Commission <br />November 16, 1977 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />Mallinger felt that the operation would be another junkyard. Mr. Sempel stated his <br />was a profit making business, and they didn't buy deteriorated houses. Their main <br />purpose is not to store these houses, but have a place if needed. Mr. Blowers was <br />informed that if a Special Use Permit was granted, it would automatically be re— <br />viewed annually for possible violations to the conditions. The public hearing was <br />closed at 10:00 PM. <br />The regular meeting was called to order at 10:13 PM. <br />Numerous regulations and alternatives were discussed at this time. Mr. Sempel <br />stated that he employs six (6) people, but maybe only one would be in the shop. <br />This would be his sole storage site. <br />Motion made by McAllister, seconded by Gillen, to recommend denial of the request <br />for Special Use Permit by Safeway House Movers, <br />VOTING FOR: Gillen and McAllister <br />VOTING AGAINST: Greger, Peltier, and Ehret <br />Motion failed. <br />Motion made by McAllister, seconded by Gillen, to recommend denial of the request <br />for Special Use permit by Safeway House Movers for the following reasons: <br />1. Not consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. (restrict development on Highway 61) <br />2. Mr. Sempel's plan for policing the business be having a residence is not <br />consistent with zoning ordinance. <br />VOTING FOR: Gillen and McAllister <br />VOTING AGAINST: Greger, Peltier, and Ehret <br />Motion failed. <br />Mr. Sempel stated he would agreeable to the stipulation of not storing a building <br />over 12 stories. Mrs. Sempel again asked that the commission consider the sewer <br />system for 20 acres. <br />Gillen made motion, seconded by Peltier, to table the matter until the meeting of <br />December 14, 1977, for futher input from the Planning Commission members (ideas on <br />restrictions and recommendations for the operation). <br />VOTING FOR: Greger, Peltier, Gillen, McAllister, and Ehret <br />Motion carried. <br />The Sempels were instructed to provide the following information: <br />1. Fairly detailed idea of how you would fence. <br />2. Yard lighting <br />3. Number of buildings (where and spacing) <br />4. Show layout for maximum number they would have sitting there <br />5. Contact count Planning Department for ideas on screening and fencing along 165th St. <br />
