I`INUTES OF THE PROCEEDINGS <br />OF THr <br />HUGO PLANNING COP0MISSION <br />March 14, 1979 <br />The Commission met at 7:00 PPA" for an informal interview with residents <br />interested in filling the vacancies on the Planning Commission. <br />PRESENT: ''eloquin, Greger, Gillen, DcAllister and Ehret <br />ABSENT: Peltier <br />JAMS BREVIG - :YARD III <br />Brevig stated that he is familiar with the city's procedures and ordi- <br />nances, and with Rice Creek Watershed. He has attended Planning and <br />Council meetings, and knows how the system works. His resume is on <br />file in City Hall. Peloquin asked if the ordinances were too restric- <br />tive or not restrictive enough. Brevig stated that they were not re- <br />strictive enough in most ways. Brevig felt Hugo needed more industrial <br />growth, and needed the population to obtain funds from the state. <br />Brevig stated that certain segments of the population were represented, <br />but some individuals have been harassed. He thought Hugo should esta- <br />blish a better working relationship with :-rice Creek and Metro Council. <br />He stated that Hugo was the only community that keeps their own records <br />rather than forwarding to Washington County for storage. <br />RICHIARD BIRRENBACH - Not present <br />JIM HOULE - IJARD I <br />Mr. Houle's resume is on file at City Hall. He stated that he has been <br />a resident of Hugo for 37 years, and works at the 1st State Bank of <br />Hugo. He stated that he is familiar with the people, layout of the land, <br />problems of the city, and is interested in serving the community. He <br />stated that he has previously served as secretary to the Planning Commis- <br />sion. Houle felt that the city needed more industrial growth. He <br />stated that the Planning Commission and City Council listened to the <br />people, in most cases. <br />BILL HANSON - WARD III <br />Mr. Hanson's resume is on file at City Hall. Hanson has been a reside -lit <br />of Hugo for .five years, and he stated he would like to be involved in <br />the progression of the community. Hanson presently serves on the Ordi- <br />nance Committee. Hanson would like to see industrial development for <br />tax base. He can see room for growth in the residential area in two to <br />three years. He felt that the city is trying to respond to the peo- <br />ple's needs. <br />BILI: POFERL - `.:ARD I <br />Mr. Poferl is a cabinet maker and owns his own business. IIe felt he <br />could be of help to the city because of his dealings with contractors. <br />At this point, he is unfamiliar with the codes of the city, but would <br />be willing to get involved. <br />
