Background Memo <br />I. Approve Minutes From April 14, 2010 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the April 14, 2010 Parks Commission <br />Meeting as presented. <br />II. Discussion on Hansen Property Trails <br />Roger Clarke will discuss recent trail development. Local Boy Scouts added to the trail <br />in Clearwater Creek Preserve Park. Also, Steve Henke, from the MN Off -Road Cyclists <br />has offered to work with the City of Hugo to build multi -use off-road trails at the Hansen <br />property. <br />III. Further Discussion on a Skate Park at Lions Park <br />At the April 14, 2010 Parks Commission meeting, staff was directed to finalize estimates <br />on concrete, gather proposals for skate park equipment and invite local teens to the <br />May meeting. Public Works Director Scott Anderson will present a proposed budget <br />and site plan. Parks Planner Shayla Syverson will provide information on other local <br />skate parks. Skate park equipment vendors were contacted and proposals were <br />requested for a 100' by 50' skate park site with a budget of $40,000. The following <br />skate park vendors have been contacted: <br />• Plywood Benders <br />• American Ramp Company/ Sk8parks International <br />• Sun Ramps <br />• 3rd Lair <br />Staff recommends that the Commission review the materials, set a budget for a skate <br />park and select a vendor. Staff also recommends that a Skate Park Design Board be <br />formed with two representatives from the Parks Commission, a member of the Hugo <br />Lions Club, Brady Peterson (requested a skate park), Eric Romey (requested a skate <br />park), Anderson and Syverson. The Skate Park Design Board will work with the vendor <br />selected to design the skate park and present a final plan at the June 9, 2010 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br />-2- <br />Parks Commission <br />May l2, 2010 <br />
