Background Memo <br />I. Approve Minutes From May 12, 2010 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the May 12, 2010 Parks Commission Meeting <br />as presented. <br />Presentation from Skate Park Desian Grou <br />At the May 10, 2010 meeting, the Parks Commission approved a concept development plan and <br />budget for Lions Park. American Ramp Company was selected as the vendor. A Skate Park <br />Design Group was established to work with American Ramp Company to finalize the equipment <br />plan. A webinar was held on Thursday, May 20 with the group and American Ramp Company <br />and a concept plan for the equipment was put together. <br />At the May 17, 2010 City Council meeting, staff presented the Parks Commission's <br />recommendation of a redevelopment plan of Lions Park and the proposed budget of $75,000. <br />The City Council directed the Parks Commission to continue to investigate and get specifics on <br />skate parks, and to continue to work with the Lions Club on developments to Lions Park. <br />Staff met with members of the Lions Club to discuss the project. The Lions Club were <br />concerned about loosing space on the existing tennis courts as it is used for bands at Good <br />Neighbor Days. They proposed building the skate park to the west of the existing courts. They <br />discussed contributing up to $10,000 for the cost of the fence extension, base for the concrete <br />slab, additional asphalt overlay and striping. Pete Pederson will provide an update on the <br />official decision of the Lions Club at the Parks Commission meeting of June 9, 2010 <br />III. Discussion on Prairie Village Park Dedication <br />Staff will present an application for preliminary plat approval of 79 single family homes and 5 <br />outlots on approximately 40 acres north of Oneka Elementary School known as "Prairie Village". <br />The applicant is proposing park dedication includes both land and cash -in -lieu of land to be paid <br />with the final plat of each of the 4 phases. <br />-2- <br />Parks Commission <br />June 9, 2010 <br />
