Presentation from Skate Park Design Grou
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner informed that a skate board design group was assigned to
work with the American Ramp Company. A webinar was held on May 20, 2010 and a concept
plan for the equipment was put together with the American Ramp Company. Hugo youth were
present to discuss the plan. On May 17, 2010 the City Council directed the Parks Commission
to continue to get specifics on additional skate parks and work with the Lions Club on the
concept for the Lions Park.
In a recent meeting with the Lions Club, the Lions expressed concern that placing skate park
equipment inside the existing tennis court space would not leave enough space for Good
Neighbor Days. Pete Pederson, from the Lions Club discussed building the skate park on the
west end of the existing tennis courts. The Lions Club is willing to donate up to $10,000 to help
with costs involved with the fence extension, building a new base for the concrete slab and the
additional asphalt overlay/stripping to have this change implemented.
Berger made a motion, Larsen seconded to approve the revised budget and concept plan with
the changes requested by the Lions Club and recommend approval of the grant by the City
Council.
All Ayes, Motion Carried.
Parks Commission agreed that if approved by City Council, a public Meeting would be held at
the July Parks Commission meeting.
IV. Discussion on Prairie Village Park Dedication
Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner presented an application from Pratt Development for
preliminary plat approval of 79 single family homes and 5 out lots north of Oneka Elementary
School. This development will be known as Prairie Village. The applicant is proposing park
dedication of .67 acres of buildable land adjacent to the Onkea Elementary School and cash -in -
lieu of land in the amount of $154,524. The fees are to be paid with the final plat of each of the
four phases.
Strub made a motion, Birch seconded to approve the proposed park dedication offer.
All Ayes, Motion Carried.
V. Adjournment
Berger made a motion, Clark seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:03 pm.
