Background Memo <br />Approve Minutes From March 9, 2011 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the February 9, 2011 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br />II. Heritage Ponds and Hanifl Fields Playgrounds <br />At the February 9, 2011 meeting and March 9, 2011 meetings, the Parks <br />Commission selected playground designs and vendors for the Hanifl Fields <br />Athletic Park and the Heritage Ponds Park. <br />Mike Basich, from St. Croix Recreation will present color designs for the Hanfil <br />Fields Athletic Park. Commissioner Tom Windish and Parks Planner Shayla <br />Syverson worked with Mike Basich to select a "north woods" color scheme in <br />keeping with the master plan for the park. <br />Grant DeRoches will present color options for the Heritage Ponds Park. <br />Residents of the Heritage Ponds neighborhood were notified of a public hearing <br />on the color scheme of the playground equipment. <br />Staff recommends discussion and that the Parks Commission finalize color <br />schemes for the Heritage Ponds Park and Hanifl Fields Athletic Park <br />playgrounds. <br />III. Hunt for the Golden Spike <br />Deb Barnes, Managing Editor of the Citizen, and Carter Johnson, Publisher of <br />Press Publications will present the opportunity of sponsoring the "Hunt for the <br />Golden Spike 2011 ". In previous years, the City has provided and printed park <br />maps that include the rules of the hunt. The contest is a part of Hugo Good <br />Neighbor Days. Staff recommends a sponsorship in the amount of $250. <br />IV. Irish Avenue Park Proposal- MN Gophers <br />Gary Wilson, Head Coach of the University of Minnesota Women's Track & Field <br />and Cross Country, will make a presentation about the future development of <br />Irish Avenue Park. <br />-2- <br />Parks Commission <br />April 13, 2011 <br />
