Background Memo <br />I. Approve Minutes From May 11, 2011 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the May 11, 2011 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br />II. Lions Park Master Planning <br />At the May 2, 2011 meeting the Parks Commission directed staff to work with <br />Landform to start master planning Lions Park. <br />III. Clearwater Creek Preserve Park Trails <br />Staff is recommending a Volunteer Day be held on Saturday, June 25th from <br />8:00am to noon to add wood chips to the trails at Clearwater Creek Preserve <br />Park. <br />IV. Recreation Program Update <br />This summer, the City of Hugo is hosting several new recreation programs. A <br />skateboard camp will be held at the new skatepark in Lions Park from July 11-13. <br />Third Lair has been hired to teach basic skills, etiquette and demonstrate tricks. <br />A soccer camp will be held at Hanifl Fields Athletic Park from July 25-28. Coach <br />Carl Craig, who is often hired by White Bear Soccer Club, will be paid to staff and <br />lead the camp. All participants will be given a free Hugo soccer jersey. <br />The Lions Club contacted the City of Hugo and requested that a Pickleball <br />Tournament be held during Good Neighbor Days. A tournament will be held on <br />Sunday, June 12 starting at noon at the courts in Lions Park. Equipment will be <br />provided to participants. <br />The Lions Den Teen Program will be held for a second year in Lions Park. <br />Teens are invited to drop by Lions Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays between <br />3:30 and 5:30pm to join in games of all sorts. White Bear Community Services <br />and Recreation has hired two program leaders that will organize and lead <br />activities. <br />-2- <br />Parks Commission <br />June 8, 2011 <br />
