Background Memo <br />Approve Minutes From October 12, 2011 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the October 12, 2011 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br />II. Lions Park Guidelines <br />One of the 2011 Goals of the Parks Commission was to do concept planning for <br />Lions Park. The first public workshop to envision the long term plan and uses of <br />Lions Park was held on Tuesday, September 27. At their meeting of October 12, <br />2011 the Parks Commission continued discussion on Lions Park. Input from the <br />Parks Commission was shared at the public workshop on Tuesday, October 18. <br />Stakeholders from the Lions Club and Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf, City <br />Council members, Parks Commissioners, and residents participated in the <br />workshop. <br />Development Guidelines have been drafted as an outcome of the two public <br />workshops. The goals and guidelines outlined would be used in planning future <br />development and reviewing requests for improvements at Lions Park. <br />After discussion on the guidelines, changes may be made to the guidelines. A <br />draft of the Lions Park Development Guidelines may be recommended for <br />approval by the City Council. <br />(Draft of guidelines included in packet) <br />III. Health Up and GO Wellness Challenge 2012 <br />The City of Hugo partnered with local health businesses and held the Health Up <br />and GO Wellness Challenge in the summer of 2011. Staff is recommending <br />continuing the wellness challenge during the summer of 2012. <br />(Staff report included in packet) <br />IV. Goal Setting <br />Each year, the Parks Commission sets goals for the following year. Last year, it <br />an effort to offer more to the residents of Hugo, the Parks Commission approved <br />recreation program goals in addition to their park, trail and open space <br />development goals.
