Background Memo <br />I. Approve Minutes From August 10, 2011 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the August 10, 2011 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br />II. Presentation by Boy Scout Michael Marier <br />Boy Scout Michael Marier will present his plan for an Eagle Scout Project <br />including planting trees at Heritage Ponds Park. <br />III. Update on Tour de Huqo <br />The Tour de Hugo will be held at Hanifl Fields Athletic Park on Saturday, <br />September 17. There will be 5 1/2 , 18 and 23 mile ride options. Participants will <br />receive a free T-shirt, food and beverages, and a goodie bag. Staff will present <br />an update on the businesses that have gotten involved in the Tour de Hugo. <br />IV. Update on Irish Avenue Park Committee <br />At their meeting of July 18, 2011 the City Council approved the formation of a 7 <br />member committee to plan Irish Avenue Park and the appointment of Parks <br />Commissioners Jim Taylor and Dave Strub. Council members Chuck Haas and <br />Tom Weidt were appointed with Weidt to serve as Chair. Planning <br />Commissioner Rick Gwynn was appointed by the Council. <br />Staff notified residents adjacent to Irish Avenue Park about the formation of the <br />Committee and sought a volunteer to serve as the neighborhood representative. <br />Six residents volunteered and met to nominate Rhonda Peterson. Peterson was <br />appointed by the City Council at their meeting of September 6, 2011. Staff is <br />recommending that the first meeting be held Wednesday, October 5 at 7:00pm at <br />Hugo City Hall. <br />V. Update on Lions Park Master Planning <br />Staff has been working with stakeholders for the planning of Lions Park. The first <br />public workshop will be held Tuesday, September 27 at 7:00pm at Hugo City <br />Hall. <br />-2- <br />Parks Commission <br />September 14, 2011 <br />
