Page z /� N <br />Two Parks Beautified <br />The Parks Commission <br />included planting trees in <br />Arbre Park and develop- <br />ing a landscaping plan <br />for Heritage Ponds Park <br />in their 2012 goals. In <br />the spring and summer, <br />the improvements were <br />made at both parks. In <br />Arbre Park, hazardous <br />trees were removed. <br />New trees were planted <br />that will be more suitable <br />to the area and that will <br />provide shade to the play <br />areas of the park. A local <br />Boy Scout assisted with <br />the planting project to <br />qualify for the Eagle <br />Scout Rank. <br />At Heritage Ponds Park, <br />plants and shrubs were <br />planted around the shel- <br />ter and other park <br />elements. Thanks to <br />generous donations by <br />Geocaching Grows <br />" TFPC is short for <br />Thanks for the Cache. It <br />has been logged online <br />by many geocachers from <br />all over the state about <br />the new geocaches placed <br />by the City of Hugo. <br />Eight caches were placed <br />in Hugo parks as a part of <br />the Geocaching <br />Adventure Passport <br />Series launched at the <br />beginning of the summer. <br />Each of the caches have <br />50-85 "finds" logged the <br />official website geocach- <br />ing.com. Dozens of <br />enthusiastic geocachers <br />young and old claimed <br />the trackable prize upon <br />completion of the series. <br />One geocacher noted: <br />"All in all, another great <br />geocaching day, complete <br />individual Parks Com- I <br />missioners, birch trees <br />were planted at Heritage <br />Ponds Park that will <br />provide shade to the <br />newly installed 1 <br />playground area. <br />I <br />The improvements at <br />each of the parks reflect <br />an ongoing priority of the <br />Parks Commission to <br />provide enjoyable parks <br />for all residents in Hugo. <br />with plenty of new trails <br />to hike, flowing water to <br />follow, and beautiful <br />warm sunshine to keep <br />my coat off! I <br />really liked this little <br />park...:)" <br />Facebook Takes Off <br />The City of Hugo <br />joined facebook <br />in late Zoog. As <br />social media <br />grows in popular- <br />ity, the City has <br />used facebook <br />2 0 1 2 <br />more and more to <br />promote recreation <br />programs, community <br />events and help spread <br />the word about things <br />going on in the City of <br />Hugo. As of late, a <br />handful of new people <br />"like" the City of Hugo's <br />page each week. People <br />are able to comment on, <br />ask questions about and <br />share the posts that are <br />made public. <br />
