No formal action was taken. <br />Discussion on White Bear Lake Athletic Association Athletic Facility Needs Analysis Study <br />The White Bear Lake Area School District is looking to do a study of the athletic facilities in the <br />district. Parks Planner Shayla Syverson explained that the City of Hugo has been asked to <br />participate in the study to look at current use and needs and identify future facility needs. The <br />estimated cost of the study is $20,000-$30,000, and the City's share would be $4,000. The <br />Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission discussed the study at their meeting on October <br />10, 2012 and recommended support of the White Bear Lake Area School District Athletic <br />Facility Needs Analysis in an amount not to exceed 13% or $4,000. It was noted that Hugo is <br />divided into four school districts. <br />Hass made motion, Weidt seconded, to accept the Parks Commission's recommendation <br />supporting the White Bear Lake Area School District Athletic Facility Needs Analysis in an <br />amount not to $4,000, and included that it be viewed from a regional standpoint. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Yellow Ribbon Network Report <br />Council Member Chuck Haas and Council Member Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow <br />Ribbon Network activities held recently. The Welcome Home Pheasant Hunt was held over the <br />past weekend at Wild Wings Game Farm with 200 Military members, 40 sponsors and 25 <br />volunteers. Hamburger night is on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 and will be sponsored by Xcel <br />Energy. A packing event for care packages to be sent to overseas troops will be held on <br />November 10, 2012 at Hugo City Hall, and donations are being accepted. <br />Minnesota Manufacturing Week October 22-28, 2012 <br />The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the Minnesota <br />Precision Manufacturing Association, and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce are partners in <br />promoting Minnesota Manufacturers Week October 22-28. The purpose of MN Manufactures <br />Week is to encourage communities, local and regional Chambers of Commerce, trade <br />associations, companies and others to mark the week with special events recognizing the <br />economic importance of the sector. In recognition of Manufacturers Week, Wilson Tool held its <br />first "Manufacturing Day" celebration Friday, October 5, 2012. Mayor Fran Miron, Council <br />Member Tom Weidt, and City Administrator Bryan Bear attended this event. The Council <br />indicated their interest in attending next year's Wilson Tool Manufacturing Day. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, to recognize Minnesota Manufacturing Week October 22 - <br />28 and to send "thank you" postcards to all the manufacturing businesses in Hugo. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
