8:15 pm Lions Park Planning
At the meeting of May 14, 2014, the Parks Commission discussed planning of Lions Park. A
draft master plan for Lions Park was put together in the fall of 2012 by WSB & Associates.
The plan was presented to the City Council on October 15, 2012. The City Council expressed
concern over the parking and traffic flow. At that time, the Parks Commission and the City
Council shared an interest in working with the developer of the properties to the west of Lions
Park in anticipation of a possible park land dedication. The Lions Park Master Plan was not
approved as drafted.
It is likely that there will be revisions to the plan addressing parking, traffic, and the anticipated
park land dedication. These revisions could be incorporated in the next phases of design
development which will include cost estimates and potential phasing plans.
Staff recommends that the Parks Commission continue to work with WSB & Associates to plan
Lions Park and make a recommendation to the City Council. Other options include requesting
proposals from consultants to do the planning work or to not plan Lions Park.
8:45 pm Adjournment
