Background Parks Commission Meeting of December 10, 2014 Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm 7:00 pm Approve Minutes from November 12, 2014 Meeting, Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of November 12, 2014. Please see the attached minutes. 7:05 pm Presentation of the Lions Park Concept Plans Candace Amberg, Senior Landscape Architect with WSB and Associates will present three concept plans drafted for Lions Park. The plans were drafted to show several different options and locations for the features. Different combinations are possible. Amberg will lead a discussion and gather input on the main park building, combination and location of recreation amenities, a memorial, vehicular circulation, parking, and pedestrian circulation. The concept plan drafts are attached. Renderings will be provided at the meeting with additional graphics and labels. 8:00 pm Victor Square Park Request A letter was received from Karen Ray, representing the Victor Gardens Master Association. The letter requests that ice skating be prohibited on the pond in Victor Square Park. Victor Square Park has a unique partnership- it is owned by the City of Hugo and open to the public. The landscaping exceeds city park standard, therefore the Association is responsible for the additional maintenance. Restricting public access and use would require Parks Commission and City Council approval. Staff recommends discussion and a recommendation be made to the City Council. Aerial and other photos have been attached for your reference. 8:20 pm 2015 Goals At the meeting of November 12, 2014; the Parks Commission drafted goals and action steps for 2015. Highlights include Lions Park Planning, review of the Parks, Trails, and Open Space plan, trails, and senior recreation. Staff recommends approval of the 2015 Goals of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission. Please review the draft 2015 goals, which are attached.
