Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for May 2, 2016 <br /> Page 2 of 7 <br /> Approval of Minutes for the April 21, 2016 Metro Cities Annual Meeting <br /> Klein made motion, Miron seconded, to approve the minutes for the Metro Cities annual meeting <br /> on April 21, 2016 as presented. <br /> All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> Approval of the Agenda <br /> Weidt made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> Donation to the YRN and Blue Star Moms —Bayport Gambling Manager Marion Zimney <br /> Gambling Manager Marion Zimney and the Commander of the Bayport American Legion Post <br /> 491 presented a check for $3,000 each to the YRN and the Blue Star Moms. The Legion <br /> conducts gambling at Sal's Grill. Members of the YRN and Blue Star Moms assist the legion in <br /> conducting Bingo and meat raffles at Sal's. The Council and Mayor thanked the Bayport Legion <br /> for supporting Hugo. <br /> Carnelian-Marine-St. Croix Watershed District Board Members Thomas Polasik, Kristen <br /> Tuenge and David DeVault <br /> Board Managers Thomas Polasik, Stillwater Township; Kristen Tuenge, Scandia; and David <br /> DeVault, May Township, were in attendance to meet the Council and answer questions about the <br /> Carnelian-Marine-St. Croix Watershed District. All three, whose terms were expiring on June <br /> 21, 2016, were seeking reappointment to the board. Each shared background information on <br /> themselves and talked about their priorities, which included removal of phosphorous and aquatic <br /> species from waterways. The board was also involved with cost share programs with residents <br /> for prairie restoration, rain gardens, and other projects. The Board meets twice a month with the <br /> major meeting being held on the second Wednesday. Meetings take place at the Scandia <br /> Community Center at 6:30 p.m. The Council thanked them for the work they do and for coming <br /> to the meeting. No formal action was taken. <br /> Park, Recreation, and Open Space Commission 2015 Annual Report <br /> Annually, a report is prepared with information on the year's activities of the Parks, Recreation, <br /> and Open Space Commission. Parks Planner Shayla Denaway presented the 2015 Annual <br /> Report to Council. Included was information on the 2015 park dedication, Lions Park, trail <br /> connections, and senior recreational needs. The Parks Commission will be reviewing the parks <br /> and trails plans as part of the Comprehensive Plan update. <br />
