In addition to determining the depart-
ment's needs for a new facility,ESG will also assemble a master plan for the Rice Lake Park property
currently owned by the City. "There has been no official decision to locate the Public Works facility at
the Rice Lake Park site," states Public Works Director Chris Petree, "but at this point,it is the first choice
of the Public Works Building Committee."
Petree goes on to explain that the Committee has enlisted the help of three members of the Hugo Parks
Commission to join them in their consultations with ESG on the Rice Lake master plan. He adds, "We
want to make sure that we come up with the best way to utilize this property." Petree also notes that
ESG's staff includes both building and landscape architects, and that they have extensive experience in
designing both buildings and parks. Their representative on this project,Bob Russek, was the lead archi-
tect in the design of Hugo's new City Hall. A final Space Needs Study and Rice Lake Master Plan is
expected to be presented to the Hugo City Council sometime in October.
Public Works Department Takes Over Hugo Snow Plowing
Beginning this year, the Hugo Public Works Department will be solely responsible for snow plowing in
the City.
