Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for January 3, 2017 <br /> Page 6 of 8 <br /> Approve Resignation of Planning Commissioner Lynn Patzner and Advertisement for <br /> Vacancy <br /> Planning Commissioner Lynn Patzner will be moving out of the City of Hugo and no longer able <br /> to serve on the Commission. She had submitted her letter of resignation effective February 28, <br /> 2017. Adoption of Consent Agenda approved the resignation of Planning Commissioner Lynn <br /> Patzner and the advertisement for vacancy. <br /> Approve Grant Application for Bikeable Community Workshop <br /> The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission made a recommendation at their December <br /> 14, 2016 meeting to apply for a Bikeable Community Workshop. Minnesota Department of <br /> Health, Minnesota Department of Transportation, and the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota provide <br /> and facilitate the workshops in Minnesota communities. The workshop trains local, county and <br /> regional staff, community leaders and advocates on how to plan and support a more bike friendly <br /> community. Through facilitated discussion, presentations and a short on-bike mobile workshop, <br /> participants assess their community's bicycle facilities. The day-long workshop would be held <br /> between mid-May and mid-July and would support updates to the Parks, Trails, and Open Space <br /> Plan. Adoption of Consent Agenda approved the application for a Bikeable Community <br /> Workshop to be held in Hugo. <br /> Approve Advertisement for Public Works Seasonal Employees <br /> For the past several years, the City has hired five seasonal Public Works positions to help <br /> maintain the City's park system and building grounds as well as assist in road patching crews <br /> and other work as needed. These positions were approved in the 2017 General Fund Budget. <br /> Adoption of Consent Agenda approved the advertisement for Public Works Seasonal employees. <br /> Approve Amended Contract with MN Services for Cleaning Public Buildings <br /> MN Services has satisfactorily cleaned City Hall, Public Works, Hanifl Shelter, and the Fire <br /> Department since February, 2015. MN Services had requested an amendment to their contract for <br /> a slight increase in rate for cleaning. Adoption of Consent Agenda approved the amended <br /> contract with MN Services for cleaning public buildings. <br /> Building Department Annual Report <br /> Annually, City staff provides a report on the activities in the Building Department for the <br /> previous year. Community Development Assistant Rachel Leitz presented to Council the 2017 <br /> Building Department Annual Report. <br /> Leitz provided information on the planning application submitted in the past ten years, which <br /> showed an increase in development applications with one of the larger projects being Adelaide <br /> Landing with nearly 300 units. In the past ten years, one third of new units were multi-family. <br /> Ninety-six building permits were issued in 2017 for new construction, and it is believed to <br />
