BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON MARCH 20, 2017 <br />D.1 Approval of Minutes for the March 6, 2017 City Council Meeting <br />Staff recommends Council approve the above minutes as presented. <br />F.1 Swearing in of Hugo Firefighters Tom Kaspszak and Ryan Nadeau <br />Firefighters Tom Kaspszak and Ryan Nadeau have completed all the requirements to move from <br />probationary firefighter status to regular firefighter status. Mayor Tom Weidt will assist Fire <br />Chief Kevin Colvard in the swearing in and pinning of Tom and Ryan. <br />F.2 Fire Department Annual Report <br />Chief Kevin Colvard will present the 2016 Fire Department Annual Report. <br />F.2 North Memorial Annual Report <br />Rick Wagner, Director of Outstate and Ancillary Services for North Memorial, will present the <br />annual report on ambulance services provided to Hugo in 2016. <br />G.1 Approval of Claims <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br />G.2 Approve Annual Performance Review for Finance Director Ron Otkin <br />Ron Otkin was hired as the City's Finance Director on April 3, 1989. For the past 28 years, Ron <br />has conducted duties related to the City's Finance Department which includes the annual <br />preparation of the City's budget as well as financing of public improvement projects and <br />accounts payable and accounts receivable. City Administrator, Bryan Bear, recommends Council <br />approve the annual performance review for Finance Director Ron Otkin. <br />G.3 Approve Contract for New Electrical Inspector Brian Nelson <br />Dave Kichler has been the contract electrical inspector since July, 2011 and has recently gave his <br />notice of retirement due to health reasons. Dave has worked with Brian Nelson in the electrical <br />field since 2010 and highly recommends Brian be his replacement. Staff has met with Brian and <br />recommends approval of Brian Nelson as the new contract electrical inspector for the City of <br />Hugo. <br />GA Approve Extension of Filing Timeline for Minor Subdivision for Sathre Property <br />On October 17, 2007, the City approved a minor subdivision request, made by the Sathres, to <br />subdivide a 30 acre parcel into a 20 acre parcel and a 10 acre parcel. The subject property is <br />vacant and is located south of 132nd and west of Ingersoll Avenue. The minor subdivision was <br />never filed at Washington County. Per Section 90-337 of the City Code, the filing timeline for a <br />minor subdivision is 60 -days from date of approval. The applicants were unaware of a filing <br />
