6--7 <br />CITY OF HUGO <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />TO: Bryan Bear, City Administrator <br />t,— a <br />FROM: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Purchase of Toro 72" Z Master Parks Mower <br />DATE: March 29, 2017 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Included in the 2017 City of Hugo budget document is $15,000 for the replacement of the Public <br />Works Department's John Deere 72" parks mower. <br />Currently, the Public Works Department has three Toro Z Master mowers (2-60" and 1-72") and <br />the one John Deere 72" mower. Public Works staff evaluates its mowing equipment each season <br />and prioritizes the replacement needs. All three Toro mowers are older than the John Deere, <br />however they are in better condition and continue to serve the department well. The John Deere <br />mower is entering its 10th season of operation and based on its condition and maintenance <br />history, staff is recommending its replacement. <br />As with most purchases, staff is recommending purchasing a replacement mower using the State <br />of Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture. The Hugo Equipment Company has been <br />awarded this contract through MN/DOT. The contract cost of the replacement mower is <br />$9,821.24, which is well below the budgeted amount presented to the Council by staff. <br />EQUIPMENT/PRICING <br />Hugo Equipment Company has provided a quote for the 72" Toro Z Master Professional 6000 <br />series (see quote attached). This mower is equivalent to the Z Master mowers that the Public <br />Works Department currently operates. <br />DESIRED ACTION <br />Staff requests approval from the City Council for the purchase of a 2017 Toro Z Master <br />Professional 6000 series from Hugo Equipment Company for a purchase price of $9,821.24. <br />
