Based on this query, rare features have been
documented within the search area (for details, please visit the Rare Species Guide at
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/rsg/index.html for more information on the biology, habitat use, and
conservation measures of these rare species). Please note that the following rare features may be
adversely affected by the proposed project:
Ecologically Significant Areas
• The Minnesota Biological Survey (MBS) has identified two Sites of Below Biodiversity
Significance within the project boundary. Sites of Biodiversity Significance have varying
levels of native biodiversity and are ranked based on the relative significance of this
biodiversity at a statewide level. Sites ranked as Below do not meet the minimum
biodiversity threshold for statewide significance. These sites, however, may have
conservation value at the local level as habitat for native plants and animals, corridors for
animal movements, buffers surrounding higher quality natural areas, or as areas with high
potential for restoration of native habitat. These particular Sites contain Willow — Dogwood
Shrub Swamp, Northern Rich Fen (Basin), and Northern Mixed Cattail Marsh native plant
communities. These native plant communities are considered secure, apparently secure,
and imperiled, respectively, in Minnesota. Given the local significance of these Sites (see
next bullet), avoidance is recommended. Indirect impacts, such as the introduction or
spread of invasive species, should also be considered and minimized.
If the Wetland Conservation Act (WCA) is applicable to this project, please note that the
Northern Mixed Cattail Marsh may qualify as a "rare natural community" under this Act.
Minnesota Rules, part 8420.0515, subpart 3 states that a wetland replacement plan for
www.mndnr.gov
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
