MINUTES FOR THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENT MEETING OF
FEBRUARY 25, 1998
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Andy Goiffon at 6:44PM.
PRESENT: Goiffon and Rubenzer
ABSENT: Bernard Brunotte
Goiffon made motion, Rubenzer seconded, to approve the minutes for the Board of
Zoning Adjustments meeting of January 28, 1998.
All aye. Motion Carried.
VARIANCE (WILSON)
Scott A. and Lois M. Wilson, 6035 180th St. N., requested a 10' variance to the 20' side
yard setback required in the conservancy zoning district, and a variance to allow 1,288 sq
ft of garage, where 1,000 sq ft is allowed. It is the Wilson's intention to expand the
existing 28' x 40' garage on the site with a 6' x 28' addition to the rear of the building.
The side yard setback for the addition would be the same as the existing garage, which is
located 10 feet off the property line. Rubenzer expressed concern with the creeping
expansion of garage sizes, even though this was a minor addition, he did not like to see the
standard being changed by default.
Rubenzer made motion, Goiffon seconded, to approve the 10' sideyard setback variance
and 288 sq ft variance to garage size for 6035 180th Street, with the understanding that no
additional variance for garage size will be allowed on the site.
All aye. Motion Carried.
VARIANCE (STOCKNESS)
Tim and Laura Stockness, 9757 - 122nd St. N., requested a variance to construct a two-
level garage totaling 2,400 square feet, where 1,000 square feet is allowed by ordinance.
The property currently zoned RR2, and the two-level garage will be attached to a 2,234
square foot single family dwelling. Because there was no representative for the applicant
at the meeting to answer questions regarding the variance, the following motion was
made:
Rubenzer made motion, Goiffon seconded, to table consideration of this request until the
Board of Zoning Adjustment meeting on March 25, 1998.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Rubenzer made motion, Goiffon seconded, to adjourn at 7:1OPM.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Robert Museus
City Administrator
