MINUTES FOR THE HUGO BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS MEETING OF
9-23-98
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Goiffon at 6:40 PM.
PRESENT: Goiffon, Rubenzer
City Administrator, Robert Museus
Deputy Clerk, Michele Lindau
ABSENT: Brunotte
Goiffon made motion, Rubenzer seconded,to approve the Board of Zoning Adjustments minutes of
June 24, 1998, as submitted.
All AYES. Motion carried.
Variance Request- Robert Bester
Robert Bester, 8726 122nd St.N., requested a variance for a 30-35 foot setback from Long Lake
for a new septic system. The minimum septic setback requirement from the ordinary high water
mark is 150'. Mr. Bester and Mr. Dale Eklin were present to answer questions.
Rubenzer asked if there was a present septic system at that address. Mr. Eklin said there was, and
it was set back 20-18 feet from the ordinary high water mark.
Bester was asked what would happen to the present system should a new system be installed, and
he said it would be abandoned and cemented. Bester stated he had never had a problem with his
present system and it was pumped yearly; however, he would like to sell his home and is required
to bring it up to code.
The Board of Zoning Adjustment members felt a new system would be an improvement over the
present system since it would be updated and the setback would be approximately 10-15 feet
greater.
Rubenzer made motion, Goiffon seconded,to recommend approval of the variance for a 30-35 foot
setback from Long Lake for a new septic system, subject to Washington County HELM approval.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Goiffon made motion, Rubenzer seconded,to adjourn at 6:50 PM.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
IIIJfl
Michele Lindau, Secretary
Board of Zoning Adjustments
