MINUTES
HUGO BOARD OF APPEALS AND ADJUSTMENTS
MARCH 28, 2001
Acting Chairperson Puleo Called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.
PRESENT: Brunotte, Puleo
ALSO PRESENT: Community Development Director, John Rask
Secretary, Michele Lindau
ABSENT: Schumann arrived at 6:42
Minutes of February 28, 2001
Puleo made motion, Brunotte seconded, to approve the minutes for the Board of Zoning Adjustment meeting of
February 28, 2001 as submitted.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
SCHUMANN ARRIVED AT 4:42. PULEO TURNED THE CHAIR OVER TO SCHUMANN.
Variance (Tomnitz)
The Board of Adjustments and Appeals held a public meeting to consider the request of John Tomnitz for a variance
'o construct a 1,600 square foot pole building closer to the road than the existing home on his property at 7180 177
Street North, which is a 10 acre parcel in the Agricultural district. The proposed building would be a 40 X 40
structure to be used for personal storage of vehicles, boats, and trailers, which he feels are not secure as currently
stored. The City's Comprehensive Land Use Regulations require that buildings be set back a distance equal to the
principle structure. Due to the gas pipeline easement, septic system, wetlands, and trees on the property,Tomnitz
requested to construct the pole building to protrude 12 feet in front of the principle building(home)on the property.
The home has a front yard setback of 100 feet and Tomnitz is requesting to construct the pole building 88 feet from
the front property line.
The Community Development Director discussed his staff report with the Board, recommending approval of the
variance. The Board said they felt the request met all standards in the zoning ordinance for a variance.
Schumann made motion, Puleo seconded, to recommend approval of the variance to construct a pole building 12
feet in front of the principle structure at 7180 177th St. N.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Adiournment
Brunotte made motion, Puleo seconded, to adjourn at 6:55 p.m.
X111 Ayes. Motion carried.
Ll—
Michele
Lindau, Secretary
Board of Appeals and Adjustments
