I moved here from McHenry, IL. McHenry like Hugo is just beginning to boom. One
thing that they did that I thought was very thoughtful and invited everyone to have a say in the cities
development was they had surveys you could fill out on line. Knowing that many of their residents who
work and drive in to work, find it difficult to make it to Thursday night meetings, they would open a poll
that people could vote on, posted it on line then EVERYONE, esp. the people who are driving into their
jobs could have a say in the city's development.
Some businesses that we voted on then the town went to the companies and told them that they were
requested by the community to open a location were:
Pier One
Bed Bath and Beyond (closest one to Hugo is Woodbury or Roseville)
Olive Garden
Jimmy Johns
Red Lobster
Best Buy
Office Maxx
Oberwiess Dairy (I know they are looking to come to MN, the best malt you will ever eat in your life)
I here that McDonalds is coming to town and I just hope we are not going to be a "fast food town". I
want some nicer places to eat, I want to go to dinner sit down and be waited on in a nice restaurant. I
know Biaggi's Italian Restaurant wants to come to this side of town. Please consider this venue so we
can all have a voice. With my travel schedule I can never make your meetings. I live in a $300,000
town home and I really do want a voice in this town as much as I pay in taxes.
Thank you!
12/12/2007
