BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF <br /> Monday, April 16, 2007 <br /> 3. Approval of Minutes EDA meeting of March 20,2007 <br /> City staff recommends that the EDA approve the minutes for the March 20, 2007 <br /> EDA meeting as presented. <br /> 4. Blue Heron Grill <br /> There are two building pads in front of Festival Foods that are planned to be occupied <br /> by a bank and a restaurant. Currently United Properties is working with Chad Wagner <br /> on a site plan for the Blue Heron Grill. Staff has invited Mr. Wagner to come to the <br /> EDA meeting to talk about his restaurant and give details about his business plan. <br /> Staff recommends the EDA welcome Chad Wagner and the Blue Heron Grill as a <br /> new business in the community. <br /> 5. Update on TIF District and Downtown Master Plan <br /> At its Monday, April 2,2007 meeting the City Council approved the adoption of the <br /> Downtown Master Plan. At the same meeting there was a Public Hearing on the TIF <br /> District,which was tabled to Monday,April 16, 2007. Staff will update the EDA on <br /> the outcome of the meeting. <br /> 6. Discussion on Appraisal for Property Located at 5389 145th Street North <br /> The City has been contacted by Murry Millman's conservator that his home located at <br /> 5389 145th Street North is for sale. The City purchased the house next door, the <br /> Schoeller property at 5399 145th Street, back in August for the future extension of <br /> Finale. The house will soon be place on the market for$198, 000.As properties in the <br /> downtown area become available the City has been letting the EDA know about <br /> them. Staff would like the EDA to discuss if the City should start thinking about <br /> purchasing property on 145th for redevelopment as they become available. <br /> /(7)Marketing Strategy <br /> For the past couple years the EDA has been working towards a Marketing Strategy <br /> for the City. It is also a goal of the EDA for 2007. Staff will present what Hugo is <br /> doing for a marketing tool and what other Cities are doing to promote themselves. <br /> Attached is an idea that the EDA had in 2005 for a Marketing Program for the City. <br /> Staff recommends that the EDA discuss what kind of marketing they would like for <br /> the City and give direction to Staff. <br />
