BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF <br />Monday, June 18, 2007 <br />3. Approval of Minutes EDA meeting of May 21, 2007 <br />City staff recommends that the EDA approve the minutes for the May 21, 2007 EDA <br />meeting as presented. <br />4. Amian (American & Asian Bistro) <br />Staff has invited the owners of the new Amian restaurant to present their new business to <br />the EDA. The restaurant is located in the retail center of Festival Foods and opened to the <br />public on Thursday, June. 14, 2007. The EDA should welcome Jeff Swiersz and Gou Bin <br />Wang as new business owners in the community. <br />5. Carpenters Restaurant Sketch Plan <br />At the May 21, 2007 EDA meeting Mike Anderson from Carpenters Restaurant and Josh <br />Kobb from Milcon presented a sketch plan for the redevelopment of Carpenters. The <br />EDA made some comments on the sketch plan and suggested that Mr. Anderson talk to <br />the property owners about purchasing the properties to the south where he would like to <br />locate the new restaurant. They also suggested that Mr. Anderson come back to the EDA <br />in June with a revised sketch plan. Attached is the same sketch plan that the EDA saw in <br />May because Mr. Anderson did not come in with a revised plan. He has been <br />concentrating on contacting the property owners that he would like to purchase land <br />from. Mr. Anderson will be present at the meeting to talk about where he is with the <br />project. The EDA should provide Mr. Anderson will more feedback on the sketch plan. <br />6. CSAH 8 Banners <br />Chris Petree, the Public Works Director, will be giving a presentation to the EDA on the <br />banners that are proposed for the new light poles along CSAH 8. Chris has been working <br />with companies that are interested in designing the banners to be located on the light <br />poles. Attached are examples of some designs that were submitted and Chris will also <br />have others to showcase. The EDA should review the banners in the presentation and <br />give a recommendation to the City Council on which banner they would like to see in the <br />City. <br />7. Discussion on EDA Marketing Strategy <br />Staff has drafted a Marketing Strategy outline for the EDA's review per the comments <br />from the meeting of April 16, 2007. Staff recommends that the EDA review the outline <br />and provide staff with feedback on if there are any items missing or if any items can be <br />eliminated. <br />8.
