Parks Commission Authorized To Develop Policy By Deb Barnes HUGO-If the Hugo City Council adopts a policy presently being developed by the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission on tobacco use in city parks,smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco will be banned in both active and passive parks. Commission members discussed whether an exemption could be applied for in the case of a �� a special event,like Good Neighbor Days,Parks Planner Shayla Syverson told council members at their meeting of Nov.15. Council Member Becky Petryk, serving as acting mayor in the absence of Mayor Fran 1 Miron,expressed her support of tobacco-free parks in Hugo in an effort to"promote healthy ' lifestyles." "I feel very passionate about this"Petryk said."I think this is a message we should send."
