NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS FOR r, <br /> HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES <br /> Washington County is soliciting proposals for affordable housing and community facility projects to be funded <br /> through the Community Development Block Grant(CDBG)and HOME Investment Partnership(HOME)programs. <br /> Estimated Funds Available: $300,000 of CDBG Funds and $240,000 of HOME funds <br /> Availability of Funds: July 1, 2008 <br /> Eligible Uses of Funds: The Washington County 2005-2009 Consolidated Plan has identified the following as high <br /> priorities: <br /> • Development and/or rehabilitation of affordable rental or owner occupied housing <br /> • Transitional and Permanent Supportive Housing <br /> • Housing that serves persons with physical disabilities, persons with severe mental illness or chemical <br /> dependency issues and persons who are public housing residents. <br /> Washington County has also ranked recreational,neighborhood and youth centers as a medium priority. All projects <br /> must be able to document that project beneficiaries are low-and moderate-income households or persons. Additional <br /> information on eligible projects is included in the application packet and also can be found at the following websites: <br /> http://www.hud.gov/offices/cpd/communitydevelopment/programs/entitlement/index.cfm or <br /> http://www.hud.gov/offices/cpd/affordablehousing/programs/home/index.cfm <br /> Eligible Applicants: Funds can be requested by government entities, nonprofit organizations, faith-based <br /> organizations, and private developers doing projects in Washington County. It is recommended that new <br /> applicants schedule a meeting with Josh Beck prior to completing their application. <br /> Selection Criteria: Funds will be distributed on a competitive basis. Priority consideration will be given to projects <br /> that meet the criteria listed below. Other selection criteria are listed in the application packet. <br /> • To receive CDBG funds,the applicant must demonstrate that the project can be significantly completed and <br /> the funds expended by December 31, 2009. <br /> • Projects must meet a medium-or high-priority need identified in the Washington County 2005-2009 <br /> Consolidated Plan. This plan is available for viewing on the Washington County website: <br /> http://www.co.washington.mn.us/info for residents/community services/housing_and community develop <br /> ment/ <br /> • Priority will be given to projects that create or preserve affordable housing for households at 50%or below <br /> median income.
