The team of developers
has been to the EDA before to present their ideas for the City owned property. They have
discussed the plans with the EDA. The development team has new concept plans for the city
owned property that includes a 17,000 square foot building with adjacent parking. They
stated that they have been in contact with a funeral home and a restaurateur. There would be
a gathering area/event center between the uses that that could be shared by all tenants. There
will be an owner of the building that will do all of the scheduling of the event center. They
presented a letter of intent to the City to be able to market the property for a period of time.
The EDA will discuss the letter of intent at another meeting.
Although the plan was not presented to the EDA until the meeting, the EDA generally liked
the plan and idea. They liked the idea of an event center and multi-use space. There was a
small amount of discussion on the letter of intent and financials. The EDA recommended to
the development team to think about the pedestrian friendly aspect of the plan and
incorporate it as much as possible. As staff reviews the presented plan, the EDA will take a
closer look at the concept for the property.
