The goal of the Hugo Economic Development Au- <br /> President 4, <br /> u- <br /> - • - thority (EDA) is to create a thriving community with diverse jobs and tax <br /> base, brought about by specific emphasis on business retention, business <br /> expansion, and business attraction. Hugo's business community is rapidly <br /> Phil President expanding due to strong residential growth and an attractive business en- <br /> Vice vironment. The City had 52 new residential homes built as well as 4 com- <br /> mercial constructions this year. The valuation of the commercial and in- <br /> Jan • dustrial construction completed in 2013 in the City totaled over <br /> Treasurer $4,000,000.00. The City of Hugo and the EDA welcome all of the new <br /> businesses to Hugo and are excited about the new jobs and services they <br /> • _ _ provide to the community. In this Annual Report the EDA highlights the <br /> projects approved in 2013, the new businesses that have located in Hugo, <br /> EDA events, and a new assessment policy that relates to construction of <br /> roads for economic development proposes. <br /> 2013 EDA Goals. . . <br /> In December, the EDA has a goal setting session to set priorities for the <br /> year ahead. Below are the goals which include action items that the EDA <br /> works on throughout the year. <br /> _ _ •_ • Business Retention and Expansion <br /> Continue Marketing of the City <br /> • Continue working on downtown redevelopment projects <br /> • Establish quality industrial and commercial development <br /> • Transportation <br /> 0 Encourage the County on economic development efforts <br />
