BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2012 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the December 10, 2012, EDA Meeting as presented. 4. OATH OF OFFICE Mayor Tom Weidt and Phil Klein will be taking their oath of office at the meeting. Phil Klein will renew his term, and Mayor Tom Weidt will be a new member. 5. OFFICER ELECTIONS The officers of the EDA shall be president, vice president, treasurer, assistant treasurer, and secretary. The president, vice president and treasurer shall be members of the board of the EDA, and shall be elected annually. Staff recommends the EDA elect the president, vice president and treasurer to the EDA. 6. GRACEWOOD SENIOR LIVING—5607 N. 150TH STREET Staff will introduce Steve Niehaus, House Manager of Gracewood Living, to the EDA. The business is located in the former Suite Living building off of 150`h Street next to the Post Office. Mr. Niehaus will provide the EDA with information on the business and how he would like to be involved in the community. Staff recommends the EDA welcome Mr. Niehaus into the community. 7. DISCUSSION ON 2012 EDA ANNUAL REPORT Staff will present the updated 2012 EDA Annual Report to the EDA. The annual report showcases the City's economic development efforts for 2012. This item was tabled at the last meeting so all commissioners could comment. 8. DISCUSSION ON 2013 EDA GOAL SETTING Staff would like to discuss the EDA goals for 2013. Enclosed are the updated 2013 EDA goals that were worked on at the last meeting for your review. This item was tabled at the last meeting so all commissioners could comment. The EDA's goals for 2013 will be forwarded to the City Council as they discuss their goals for 2013. 9. UPDATE ON GREATER MSP Staff will update the EDA on Greater MSP's Business Retention& Expansion efforts. Staff will also inform the EDA about the meetings Greater MSP will hold that the EDA are welcome to attend. 10. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT Staff will update the EDA on the progress of downtown redevelopment.
