Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for July 16, 2018 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br /> <br />Donation from White Bear Lake Lions Club to the Hugo Yellow Ribbon Network <br /> <br />White Bear Lake Lions Club Gambling Manager Jim Francis presented a donation to the Hugo <br />Yellow Ribbon Network in the amount of $5,000. Jim stated the funds were raised through <br />gambling, and the White Bear Lions Club feels good about supporting surrounding communities. <br />Council thanked him for the donation. <br /> <br />Lakes Center for Youth & Families Annual Report – Executive Director Matt Howard <br /> <br />The Lakes Center for Youth & Family Services, located in Forest Lake, has been providing <br />counseling services to youth and families in the City of Hugo for over 20 years. Executive <br />Director Matt Howard explained the center was previously called the “Youth Service Bureau”. <br />Matt has worked there for 18 years and recently became the executive director. The center also <br />recently purchased new space using capital campaign funds. The organization is committed to <br />diversion, helping kids who are in trouble by avoiding process through the court system. Matt <br />stated that this was one of their most used services, and in the past year, the center was able to <br />help 15 youth, which saves taxpayers money. They also do mental health counselling and <br />enrichment, helping youth get into the workforce. Matt talked about their “Tried and True” <br />program, which gives kids hands-on learning, and stated he appreciated Hugo Power Equipment <br />for donating items for them to work on. Matt reminded Council of the All You Can Eat Taste <br />Event at the Winehaven Winery, and said he was pleased to have Washington County Deputy <br />Brandon Yetter receive the James Trudeau Award this year. <br /> <br />Culpepper & Merriweather Circus at Lions Park on Saturday and Sunday, July 21-22, <br />2018 <br /> <br />The Hugo Lions Club will be sponsoring the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus at Lions Park on <br />Saturday and Sunday, July 21-22, 2018. Lions Member Pete Pederson talked about the <br />upcoming performances stating Showtimes are at 2 and 4:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in <br />advance at Wise Guys Pizza, Sager’s Liquor, and Holiday Station Store. On July 21st at 9:30 <br />a.m., they will be raising the tent followed by staff-led tours. All money raised goes towards <br />scholarships. <br /> <br />Approval of the Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda: <br /> <br />1. Approve Claims Roster <br />2. Approve Resolution Appointing Election Judges for 2018 Primary and General Election <br />3. Approve Renewal of Mining Permit for Mike Atkinson <br />4. Approve Renewal of Electrical Inspection Service Agreement for Brian Nelson Inspection <br />Services, Inc. <br />5. Approve Temporary Liquor License for Hugo Lions Club for Wilson Tool Picnic on August <br />11, 2018 <br />6. Approval of a Letter of Credit reduction for Fable Hills 5th Addition <br />7. Approve Premise Permit for Merrick, Inc for Purse Bingo at the American Legion on <br />August 6, 2018. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried.
