G11. Approve Authorization to Apply for a Washington County CDA Predevelopment
Grant
Washington County CDA recently provided an opportunity to apply for pre -development grants
for economic development. Staff has received inquiries from property owners around 165th Street
and Highway 61 on how/when the properties will be served by City sewer and water. There are
complexities with serving the properties. Staff recommends applying for a pre -development
grant to evaluate a number of key elements to facilitate the development of this area. Staff
recommends approval of the resolution authorizing submittal of the Washington County CDA
Pre -development Grant Application in the amount of $10,000
H.1 Update on Lions Park
At their meeting of May 16, 2018, the Parks Commission discussed the current status of the
playground at Lions Park. Complaints have been received regarding the condition of the play
equipment. Upon recent inspection of the playground, a few safety issues needed to be
addressed including removal of a cracked slide, replacement of wooden foot boards, and other
repairs. It is estimated that the primarily wooden playground equipment has less than a year of
safe use left without substantial repairs. The Parks Commission discussed the frequent use of the
playground, the small scale of the current equipment, and having an aggressive timeline to
address the issues. They also noted that upon re -development of Lions Park, that playground
equipment can be relocated. The Parks Commission made a recommendation to the City
Council to allocate up to $100,000 for replacement of the playground at Lions Park.
I.1 Update on the White Bear Lake Lawsuit
Staff will provide Council an update on the White Bear Lake Lawsuit.
K.1 Update on the Yellow Ribbon Network
Council Member Chuck Haas and Phil Klein will report to Council on the Yellow Ribbon
Network activities held recently.
L.1 Gravel Roads Workshop on Tuesday, May 22, 2018
At its May 7, 2018, meeting, the Council rescheduled the workshop to discuss the gravel roads in
the City from May 14th to May 22nd.
