Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for July 16, 2018 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />Update on the Yellow Ribbon Network <br />Council Member Chuck Haas and Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow Ribbon Network <br />activities held recently. Photos were shown of the home improvement project that was instigated <br />by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. There was a picture of the 347th Regional Support <br />Group, and Haas talked about the 134th Brigade Support Battalion who reached out for help with <br />their picnic. Captain Troy Davidson, who had visited Council before to discuss alcohol <br />prevention, had met with others for support. There is a Lions golf outing August 12th at the <br />Oneka Ridge Golf Course. Xcel energy is the next Burger Night sponsor, and they are trying to <br />help the Hugo Legion get new kitchen equipment. There are deployments coming up, and Hugo <br />YRN is offering support. Haas read a letter they received from a command chaplain. Schwieters <br />is providing care package items. The YRN helped a Marine family with car repairs and <br />providing them a needed washer and dryer. <br />Update on the One Water Summit <br />Council Member Klein added this to the agenda to provide an update on the One Water Summit <br />he had attended recently. The One Water Summit involved getting entities together to talk about <br />water conservation. There were 29 states represented and seven Native American nations. Klein <br />stated that he found it interesting that water conservation policies and projects have been led by <br />the states of Colorado, Washington, California, and Minnesota. He said he was approached by <br />Metropolitan Council Representative Sandy Rummel and told that what Minnesota is doing is far <br />beyond anyone else in the nation. Klein talked about the success of the Water Legacy Act and <br />the Met Council's willingness to work with cities. Klein stated he was proud of what the Council <br />and Hugo community has done and encouraged everyone to continue on this path. City <br />Administrator Bryan Bear explained that the conference was hosted in Minneapolis this year, and <br />the Metropolitan Council was a chief sponsor. Klein was invited as a VIP to the Conference as <br />part of the Minneapolis delegation. <br />Commission Interviews Tuesday, July 17, 2018 <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear reminded Council that interviews had been scheduled for <br />commission applicants for Tuesday, July 17, 2018, beginning at 6 p.m. There were six <br />candidates. <br />Good Life Senior Living Center Open House on Thursday, July 19 or Sunday, July 22, 2018 <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear informed Council they had been invited to attend the Good Life <br />Senior Living Center Open House on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. The official <br />Ribbon Cutting was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. He recommended Council schedule as <br />a meeting if they wished to attend. <br />Weidt made motion, Miron seconded, to schedule a meeting to attend the Good Life Senior <br />Living Center Open House on July 19, 2018, at 2 p.m. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
