Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for July 16, 2018 Page 6 of 7 Update on the Yellow Ribbon Network Council Member Chuck Haas and Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow Ribbon Network activities held recently. Photos were shown of the home improvement project that was instigated by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. There was a picture of the 347th Regional Support Group, and Haas talked about the 134th Brigade Support Battalion who reached out for help with their picnic. Captain Troy Davidson, who had visited Council before to discuss alcohol prevention, had met with others for support. There is a Lions golf outing August 12th at the Oneka Ridge Golf Course. Xcel energy is the next Burger Night sponsor, and they are trying to help the Hugo Legion get new kitchen equipment. There are deployments coming up, and Hugo YRN is offering support. Haas read a letter they received from a command chaplain. Schwieters is providing care package items. The YRN helped a Marine family with car repairs and providing them a needed washer and dryer. Update on the One Water Summit Council Member Klein added this to the agenda to provide an update on the One Water Summit he had attended recently. The One Water Summit involved getting entities together to talk about water conservation. There were 29 states represented and seven Native American nations. Klein stated that he found it interesting that water conservation policies and projects have been led by the states of Colorado, Washington, California, and Minnesota. He said he was approached by Metropolitan Council Representative Sandy Rummel and told that what Minnesota is doing is far beyond anyone else in the nation. Klein talked about the success of the Water Legacy Act and the Met Council's willingness to work with cities. Klein stated he was proud of what the Council and Hugo community has done and encouraged everyone to continue on this path. City Administrator Bryan Bear explained that the conference was hosted in Minneapolis this year, and the Metropolitan Council was a chief sponsor. Klein was invited as a VIP to the Conference as part of the Minneapolis delegation. Commission Interviews Tuesday, July 17, 2018 City Administrator Bryan Bear reminded Council that interviews had been scheduled for commission applicants for Tuesday, July 17, 2018, beginning at 6 p.m. There were six candidates. Good Life Senior Living Center Open House on Thursday, July 19 or Sunday, July 22, 2018 City Administrator Bryan Bear informed Council they had been invited to attend the Good Life Senior Living Center Open House on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. The official Ribbon Cutting was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. He recommended Council schedule as a meeting if they wished to attend. Weidt made motion, Miron seconded, to schedule a meeting to attend the Good Life Senior Living Center Open House on July 19, 2018, at 2 p.m. All Ayes. Motion carried.
