Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of January 17, 2018 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br /> <br />Approve Minutes from December 20, 2017 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of December 20, 2017. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br /> <br />Approve the 2018 Goals <br />At the meeting of December 20, 2017 the Parks Commission discussed their goals for 2018. Staff <br />recommends the 2018 Goals of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission for final changes and <br />approval. The City Council will review the goals of each Commission and set city-wide goals at their Goal <br />Setting Workshop on January 29, 2018. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED DRAFT OF THE 2018 GOALS. <br /> <br />Approve the 2018 Capital Improvement Plan <br />A draft of the 2018-20212 Capital Improvement Plan has been put together with the assistance of Finance <br />Director, Ron Otkin. The Parks Commission has been given the authority to make recommendations to the <br />City Council on how to use the Special Park Fund and plans those expenditures with the Capital Improvement <br />Plan. The CIP prioritizes improvements that the Parks Commission would like to make. Some projects may <br />only be possible if additional funding becomes available through grants, private donations, or park dedication <br />fees. <br /> <br />In 2017, special park funds were used for new pavilion pads at Diamond Point Park and Victor Square Park, <br />totaling $31,654. Funds were also used for irrigation updates at Hanifl Fields Athletic Park, a new park sign at <br />Heritage Ponds Park, and the comprehensive plan updates. The 2017 special park fund ending balance was <br />$1,327,399. <br /> <br />Staff drafted a CIP for 2018-2022 based on the previous Capital Improvement Plan and upcoming projects. <br />Staff recommends that the Parks Commission review the draft, make changes, and approve a Capital <br />Improvement Plan. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED DRAFT OF THE 2018-2022 CIP. <br /> <br />Recreation Program Update <br />The following dates have been selected for movie nights: <br />Friday, January 26 <br />Friday, February 9 <br />Friday, March 23 <br />
