A
r CITY C F=
HUGO
EST.1!jQfi
May 31, 2018
To whom it may concern,
14669 Fitzgerald Avenue North, Hugo, MN55038 • (651) 762-6300 • www.ci.hugo.mn.us
The City of Hugo Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission is requesting proposals for playground
equipment to be installed at Lions Park located at 5224 Upper 146t" Street in Hugo. There will be a neighborhood
meeting to review all proposals at the Parks Commission meeting of Wednesday, June 20 at 7:OOpm at Hugo City
Hall.
Lions Park is a community park that is located near Hugo City Hall and is centrally located in the community. The
budget is set at $100,000 which needs to include engineered fiber soft surfacing and installation. You are not
responsible for the concrete curbing, which will be installed by Hugo Public Works. A master plan was approved
for Lions Park in 2014, however, funds are not available for the extensive redevelopment. The current
playground was constructed in 1998 and is need of replacement. The park is used for community events such as
Good Neighbor Days. It has T-ball fields, a skate park, tennis/Pickleball courts and a large picnic shelter.
We are looking to install a new play equipment in relatively the same location as the current equipment. A proposal
should include a basic site plan. The exact location and dimensions of the play area are flexible. It would be great to
include equipment for ages 2-5 years old as that is the focus of the current structure. The City Council is asking for the
equipment to be installed and the park open by September 15, 2018.
For more information, feel free to call me at 651-762-6342 or contact Public Works Director Scott Anderson at 651-762-
6326. Please respond with your intent to make a proposal by Wednesday, June 13. We appreciate your time and
efforts in preparing creative proposals for the Hugo Parks, Recreation and Open Space Commission.
Thank you,
Shayla Denaway
Parks Planner
Cc: Scott Anderson, Public Works Director
