<br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Parks Commission Minutes <br />September 19, 2018 <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> <br />Commissioners asked questions about the durability of simple boardwalks and one commissioner stated that <br />it would mean that families would need to walk single file. Amberg shared information about the four phase <br />areas and stated that they do not need to be done in any particular order. Rauschendorfer was surprised <br />about the number of bridge but the Commission discussed needing them to cross the creek. <br /> <br />After the plan was presented, Residents were invited to share their thoughts. One resident desired having <br />the park improvements follow construction of the trail head on 140th Street. <br /> <br />Another resident asked if horses were going to be allowed and who would fix the trails after the horses <br />damage them. The Commission discussed that there are no plans to make enhancements for horses but that <br />they are not planning to prohibit them at this time. <br /> <br />A resident was concerned about the stormwater ponds adjacent to the park property that have flooded. <br /> <br />Len Pratt discussed moving ahead and pursuing grants and other sources of funding including collaborating <br />with local businesses. <br /> <br />A residents stated that they would like designated winter trails so that the snow shoes, skis, and horses do <br />not interfere with each other. They would like to see the trails groomed for cross country. <br /> <br />A resident shared that they had been confronted by a bow hunter in the previous winter hunting season and <br />asked if there were any plans to change the hunting regulations before it became an issue. <br /> <br />There was additional discussion with the Parks Commission about the stormwater ponds and drainage. <br /> <br />Residents inquired about how to help in the future. Clarke discussed the history of the park in that <br />volunteers have made the majority of the trail improvements. He also discussed future plans and keeping <br />residents involved. <br /> <br />Clarke made a motion, Tennyson seconded to approve the Clearwater Creek Preserve concept plan. <br /> <br />All Ayes. <br />Motion Carried. <br /> <br /> <br />4. Bald Eagle Lake Access Hours <br /> <br />A resident sent a letter was requesting evaluation of the hours of use at the Bald Eagle Lake access. It was <br />reported that winter users are sometimes loud. The Commission discussed allowing ice fishing access and <br />snowmobiles. <br /> <br />Tennyson made a motion, Schmid seconded the change the Bald Eagle Lake access hours to 7:00 am until <br />10:00 pm. <br /> <br />All Ayes. <br />Motion Carried.
