Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for October 15, 2018 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes for the October 6, 2018 Citywide Bus Tour <br /> <br />Miron made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the minutes for the Citywide Bus Tour held on <br />October 6, 2018, as presented. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Minutes for the October 6, 2018 Fire Department Open House <br /> <br />Miron made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the minutes for the Hugo Fire Department Open <br />House held on October 6, 2018, as presented. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Approval of the Agenda <br /> <br />Weidt made motion, Haas seconded, to approve the agenda with an addition to approve <br />authorization to sign stipulation for contested case hearings on DNR amendments to Hugo’s <br />Water Appropriation Permit. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Recognition of Firefighter Andy Churchill <br /> <br />At its September 4, 2018 meeting, Council accepted a letter of resignation from firefighter Andy <br />Churchill after serving 14 years on the Hugo Fire Department, and directed staff to invite him to <br />this meeting to be recognized. Deputy Chief Jim Compton, Jr. and several firefighters and <br />family members were in attendance. Jim talked about Andy’s service which began in White <br />Bear Lake as a paramedic. Andy was the first paramedic on Hugo department, and he was a full <br />time EMT for Health East. He was also paramedic “Student of the Year” at Century College. <br />On the Hugo Fire Department, Andy was promoted from firefighter to Lieutenant to Training <br />Captain. Andy was currently employed full time at the Burnsville Fire Department. Jim talked <br />about all of Andy’s hard work as a personal trainer for some on the department members and the <br />work he had done on the department’s succession plan. Jim and the Council thanked Andy for <br />his years on the department. <br /> <br />Weidt made motion, Miron seconded, to present the Certificate of Appreciation to Andy <br />Churchill. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Recess <br /> <br />Weidt called for a short recess, and the meeting reconvened at 7:26 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
