MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF OCTOBER 17, 2017 <br />Weidt called the meeting to order at 5:08 pm. <br />PRESENT: Gallivan, Klein, Houle, Denaway <br />ABSENT: Petty, Puleo, Weidt. <br />STAFF: Bryan Bear, City Administrator <br />Rachel Juba, Planner <br />Rachel Leitz, Community Development Assistant <br />Sarah Rumppe, Community Development Intern <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 19, 2017 <br />Denaway made a motion, Gallivan seconded, to approve minutes for the EDA meeting of September 19, 2017. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />DISCUSSION ON 2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Juba introduced the first draft of the Economic Development Chapter in the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. She <br />noted the "Identifying a Target Market" section has been difficult to nail down, and asked the EDA for their <br />thoughts. The EDA generally agreed the City's main goal is to attract a diverse range of businesses rather than <br />a target market. <br />Houle noted this section of the chapter should communicate the City's intention to attract businesses that <br />benefit to the community through criteria such as quality or number of jobs. <br />Juba also asked the EDA their thoughts on the chapter's "Implementation" section. <br />The EDA discussed how the chapter addresses both implementation strategies and guiding principles, and <br />suggested splitting up the material. <br />Juba stated that staff would work on incorporating the EDA's comments into the next draft to be reviewed at <br />a later date. <br />UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff provided an update to the EDA on downtown redevelopment. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Houle made a motion, seconded by Denaway, to adjourn at 6:13 pm. <br />All ayes. Motion carried. <br />
