DISCUSSION ON WASHINGTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC
PLAN
Over the last few months a work group of economic development staff of Washington County cities has
been meeting. Chris Eng, Economic Development Director at Washington County has been hosting the
meetings. The group has been working on prioritizing possible economic development efforts for the
County. The County has also invited speakers to present to the work group, some include representatives
from DEED Office of Business Development and Xcel Energy.
They now have a draft of an Economic Development Plan that provides action steps and deliverables for
how the County will be active in economic development. The sections include marketing, partnerships,
financial assistance, community assistance, workforce development, and infrastructure. It's in staff's
opinion that Washington County has done a good job in outlining the action steps within their plan.
Staff recommends the EDA review the plan and adopt the resolution to supporting the Economic
Development Plan for Washington County.
6. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT
Staff will provide an update to the EDA on downtown redevelopment.
